Skull Unfinished Charcoal on paper August 2021 This piece focuses on an animal skull as an off center focal point of the drawing. The form of the skull is implied through the use of various values to allude a 3-dimensional visual. The values were created through both compressed charcoal to produce darker aspects of the value, as well as soft charcoal to demonstrate the medium values in the piece. The contrasting lighter values were created by implementing a kneaded eraser to take away different levels of darkness of the charcoal. By using soft curved lines around the piece, a smooth texture was produced to demonstrate the similar texture of the modeled skull. This charcoal drawing was apart of a technical lesson to learn how to use this medium. |
